It is the national gem of Egypt, and the ancient Egyptians knew it as the gem of the sun. Ancient Egyptians mined peridot on the Red Sea island of Zabargad, the source for many large fine peridots in the world\u2019s museums.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peridot is rich in magnesium and has an iron content that gives the gem its green coloring.<\/span><\/p>\n
